Grandmaster Danny trained incessantly since 1964 and was
promoted to head instructor in the Doce Pares Headquarters
in Cebu, Philippines. From there he became Grandmaster Cacoy’s personal sparring partner in the Corto (Close Quarters). Whilst GM Danny was clearly an exceptional talent in all areas of the multi style system of Doce Pares Eskrima he excelled in Corto and Baraw (Knife fighting). To this day he is viewed as the best Corto player in the world and the number 1 Knife fighter with countless victories in street encounters in the Philippines during the periods of Filipino turmoil. This has lead to him being the most sought after instructor of knife fighting in the world today.

Grandmaster Danny entered full contact tournaments in the sport side of Eskrima during his training as a side line. He proved talented in this region as well and became the most successful tournament fighter to date. He is the undefeated five times World Champion at Single Stick, Double Stick and Form until he was asked by Supreme Grandmaster Diony to refrain from fighting anymore and to coach the national team of the Philippines instead.

Grandmaster Danny then set up many of the Masters and Grandmasters in the United States with their schools where they have flourished ever since. Most Doce Pares Masters and Grandmasters around the world today have been students of GM Danny’s. GM Danny personally taught Master Val Pableo in the Knife and Close Quarters. Master Val is now one of the leading Eskrimador today.

In 1996 Grandmaster Danny Guba decided to leave the Philippines and moved to the United Kingdom where he now lives in the city of London. Since that time he has developed Doce Pares Eskrima in the United Kingdom producing an exceptional standard of Doce Pares Eskrimadors. He was awarded the rank of Grandmaster by SGM Diony and placed at the head of Doce Pares in Europe.

GM Danny now leads Europe and is producing the same high standard of Doce Pares Eskrimador across the continent. GM Danny is a small man who promotes Doce Pares in Europe on behalf of Supreme Grandmaster Diony Canete.
